Records Management Project
Document Storage & Control
A controlled records-management system for preserving organizational records, documents, decisions, retention requirements, access controls, and institutional history in one durable workspace.
Explore the DSC DemonstrationImportant organizational records should remain understandable, protected, and available long after the people who created them have rotated out of service.
Document Storage & Control provides a structured home for records that need to be preserved as part of an organization's continuing history. Records receive permanent identities and can include descriptions, responsible positions or committees, historical dates, supporting files, retention requirements, confidentiality controls, and a permanent audit trail.
DSC is designed for service organizations where officers, coordinators, and committee members change regularly. Instead of leaving important records scattered among personal computers, email accounts, and informal archives, the system keeps them in a controlled organizational repository with clearly defined access and lifecycle rules.
Controlled Records
Create permanent organizational records with stable identities, responsible positions or committees, supporting files, record status, and historical context.
Meetings & Decisions
Preserve meeting records and motions, including recommendations and final decisions, while maintaining relationships between related organizational actions.
Retention & Lifecycle
Apply retention requirements to records, review them when appropriate, remove records from active use, and control authorized destruction while preserving the audit history of those decisions.
Protected Access
Restrict confidential records to authorized users while keeping ordinary organizational records available to the roles responsible for maintaining and using them.
